My brother James and I started the company back in 2006.

As a couple of lads in our mid 20’s with a farming and building background the physicality and outdoors nature of the work suited us. Full of piss and vinegar, trying to make our way in the world, we spent those early years working together at a hectic pace. Anything we lacked in experience we made up for with determination.

Great memories:

  • Shoveling and running in 30 yards of gravel up a dodgy ramp system because we were too frugal to pay for a slinger or crane.

  • Grading and laying an 800sqft patio twice in one day because of a miscommunication about the pattern.

  • Trying to wolf down a kilo of tuna pasta and 500 grams of yoghurt (weight gain for rugby) in the 10 minutes my brother would allow us for a break.

As we gained experience and “we can work harder” became “we can work harder and smarter”, we took on bigger and more complex jobs as we grew in confidence. Always putting pride in our work no matter how big or small the job.

A decade after the start of the company James moved back to Wales where he bought a small holding, but those early years working together are my fondest and laid the foundation the company still stands on.

The virtues my brother and I learned from our family and lived in those early years are still what this company stand by and what I hope to pass to my own children.

There is no greater pleasure then hard graft outside on a sunny day, and nothing better than a hot cup of tea when you’re wet through. Though the joints are slightly less willing the spirit still is, and I hope a genuine love for this job still comes through in our work.
